about

Tre movimenti al nero (lit. "Three movements to black") is the third studio release by Italian Noir Rock band "Le Piccole Morti".

The three compositions contained on the record were originally created with the purpose of serving as a sound commentary for the art installation Eclissi. Tre Movimenti al Nero created by Italian artist Alice Padovani, with whom the band has already collaborated over the past two years. The work has been on display inside the Civic Museums of Reggio Emilia (RE) since 14/05 and will be dismantled on 14/10/2022. Read more about the art project in its entirety here.

The Ep unfolds through three Movimento, each representing a different interpretation of the feeling of fear, a key concept of the entire artistic project shared with Alice Padovani. Conceived through a single writing session, the tracks were almost totally improvised live, using a single sound or noise as a starting point, with the initial voice of Movimento I taken directly from one of the open meetings held with the artist in order to gather people's opinions and thoughts about their idea of fear.
Speaking of sonorities, we start with the maximalist harsh noise of the first track, move on to concrete music and ambient with the second, and arrive at the liquid psychedelia of the third.

Le Piccole Morti Modena, Italy

The core of the band has existed since 2010 and during these years has released two self-produced discs under a different monicker in English (Old Scratchiness), to then change its name in 2017 and start composing music and lyrics in Italian, coming to define its own "Noir Rock" genre: a sort of alternative rock with dark, jazz, electronic and songwriter cues. ... more
